Documentation of the abandoned Dakota Crescent estate in Singapore. These ghostly scenes follow the collective sale of the estate. Partially driven by market forces and partially mandated by the state, the redevelopment of this estate is symbolic of our small city state’s rapid and unceasing push for progress. This series encourages viewers to consider ideas of heritage, identity and preservation, and think about the many untold stories a space like Dakota Crescent may hold, while simultaneously considering the paradoxical nature of the importance of identity and holding on to heritage in the face of resource scarcity and an increasingly competitive global climate.
